Public Health Nursing Program

Public Health Nurses are the primary link between the healthcare facility and the community in which they serve.  By joining our team of PHNs, you will quickly realize that nursing as a profession takes on a whole new meaning. This is practicing health care on the most grounded and humble level, with priceless rewards.

Our nurses build long-term relationships with their patients and are often with them from pre-birth to end of life.  We go to great lengths and cover a vast territory to ensure our patients receive the proper care, including tracking immunization rates.  WIHCC is the only Navajo health care center to do so.  Our nurses provide managed care including follow up visits, home care responsibility, and arranging transportation to/from the clinics.

The need for public health nursing is immense and we are always looking to add to our outstanding nursing staff.  We offer internship opportunities, annual career advancement or degree enhancement funding, and a generous loan repayment program.

Being a Public Health Nurse for the Navajo Nation isn’t just a profession; it’s a way of life.
