 Podiatry
&
Wound Care

Podiatry & Wound Care

The wound care & podiatry staff, in conjunction with the diabetes department, has continued to make concentrated efforts to increase community wide education on the dangers of diabetes and wound development.  Advanced wound care therapy is a vital resource needed to protect our diabetic
population since a majority of all amputations start as small diabetic foot ulceration.  WIHCC is committed to decreasing our community wide
amputation rate.

Because of the power and necessity of consistent local wound care, WIHCC went to great lengths to staff Wound Care & Podiatry Clinic with committed
individuals who understand the necessity of care and avoidance of preventable amputation.  Podiatry & wound care staff has been specifically
trained to handle high risk diabetic foot ulcerations with multiple employees having national wound care and board certification in the field of Wound Care & Podiatry.  These advanced certifications allow our staff to utilize advanced wound care therapy modalities including split thickness skin grafts, stem cell therapy, oxygen therapy, and surgical debridement.

We provide Podiatry and Wound Care services by referral and appointment for the enrolled patients of WIHCC. Outside referrals are reviewed for acceptance by our Podiatrist.
OUR VALUES

HONOR
We honor Life by preserving the gift of the human body as a whole. We encourage all efforts to respect and preserve this Gift.

EQUITY
Those most in need deserve preferential access to the Very Best Limb Preservation Care
WHAT DOES PODIATRY & WOUND CARE DO?
In our Podiatry Clinic, we provide assessment and treatment of diseases of the foot, including foot evaluations, diabetic foot evaluations, nail care, orthotics and adjustments, shoe fitting, education, vascular evaluation and referrals, callus and skin care, fracture care and surgical scheduling.

Our Wound Care Clinic provides advanced wound care using innovative materials and processes of the Best Practices of Limb Preservation.
THE LIMB PRESERVATION MEDICAL HOME PATIENT PROGRAMS
Wound Care is just one part a multidisciplinary program which we call the Limb Preservation Medical Home.  This patient-centered program coordinates all of the key players of the Wound Healing model and delivers them to the patient efficiently in real time.  By partnering with patients as their Limb Preservation Advocate, coordination and communication is maximized.  This is essential to savings limbs and lives, and we do it every day at WIHCC!
OUR WOUND ASSESSMENT TOOL
Our Wound Assessment Tool is a reflection of Clinical Best Practices in Wound Care, our decades of collective Wound Care Experience, and our Values.  This tool is complete and concise for understanding the cause of chronic wounds, guiding treatment, and communicating the information to the patient in a sensible way.
