Women's Health

Welcome to Women's Health

Women's Health provides a comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of Native American women of all ages.  Services include full physical examinations, family planning services, screening for breast and cervical cancer, sexually transmitted infections, and screening for osteoporosis.
The Women’s Health Program would like to announce our latest captivating video titled,
Breast Cancer Survivors:  New Life, New Wisdom
This video details the gripping struggle and the triumph of 4 Navajo Breast Cancer Survivors in the Winslow Service area.  They reveal how they and their families dealt with their diagnosis, and how they navigated their journey to wellness.  We applaud these women for their courage and
strength.

Native women often have a higher mortality due to a late diagnosis of breast cancer.  Screening for breast cancer can detect abnormalities at early stages when the treatment often has a higher success rate.

Did you know:
Found early enough, cervical cancer and breast cancer is nearly 100% treatable.  All women are at risk for breast cancer, and the risk goes up with age.  Mammograms can detect early changes in the breast, long before symptoms are noticed.  Get a mammogram and a women's health exam.  Its a picture and a practice that can save your life.
Mammograms are Important - Video is presented in Navajo language.
