The Health Promotion Disease Prevention Department (HPDP) is proud to announce that the Wellness Conference planning committee has set the date for the upcoming 28th Annual WIHCC Wellness Conference. This conference is to be held on Thursday, June 11th, 2020 at the Dilcon Community School. The Annual Wellness Conference is designed to share information and health education based on the Navajo Traditional Philosophy of Hozhogoo Iina. We believe in the importance of cultural integration with Western concepts of health promotion. By promoting Culture-based cultural beliefs using the Four Cardinal Directions as reference, we aspire to elevate self-confidence and awareness in making every day choices that lead to improved quality of life.
This year’s conference theme celebrates Self-Care – Ádaa Áháyáá. The topics we have set to educate our communities cover a wide range and relate to Social, Spiritual, Mental, Physical Wellness, Environmental and Emotional Wellness. HPDP would like to highlight our dedicated staff along with wealth of information that the different WIHCC Departments possess in order to make this conference a true success! In particular, we are looking for individuals that can lead the breakout sessions, deliver a keynote speech, and every year the Annual Wellness Conference selects an individual to prepare introductions and speeches and ensures events run on schedule, a Master of Ceremony (MC); will act as the host at this special community event. Your participation would be greatly appreciated and have a lasting, positive effect on those who attend.
Strong representation and WIHCC staff presence is key to the goals of our program and community outreach. Giving patients and community an opportunity to connect with WIHCC on another level is integral to the overall mission of WIHCC. If you would like to participate or feel that you can offer your assistance for this one-day event, please contact me, Kimberly Yazzie, HPDP Manager at ext. 29762. Thank you.
